The First Christmas Card of 2011

Has Christmas come early at Mama's?  Nah ... Mama lived through The Great Depression and she saw times when she didn't have two dimes to rub together; so she learned to do with what she had.  That is exactly what I did with my Christmas card - I made do with what I had  (after all it is called an INVENTORY challenge).  How appropriate that this is Inventory challenge #24!  My teammates and I have been asked to make a card with complimentary colors like red and green.  Now when you think about red and green, do you think of Easter?  Hmmmm . . . I thought not.

On the inside I made a Poinsettia with my Magnolia Doohickey.  It really looks purty good and I think Mama is gonna really like it causes she loves artificial flowers!

Now seeing that I didn't like how the right side turned out with that fancy camera ( I knew I should have used Mama's Kodak Brownie) - I have decided not to show that side!!!   After all, I am the editor.

Please visit my teammates as we play Inventory Challenge #24.

Sarah's 4th Birthday

Our Inventory Challenge this week is to use a furry friend.  Do you remember when you were a kid and got a stuffed rabbit for Easter?   They were stiff as can be with ears standing straight up!  Mama always got us kids one of those rabbits every Easter and claimed the Easter Bunny brought them. We absolutely adored  those animals!  Now my grand babies have these natural lookin' soft and cuddly stuffed rabbits.  Now I have a confession to make, I think Miss Tilda got into her Mama's makeup and put on too much rouge.  Oh well she thinks she looks purrty.  I think she needs to take lessons from Suzanne Dean in coloring up faces.

It is my youngest granddaughter's 4th birthday and I made this card just for Miss Sarah.  Now she is purrty!  Purrty smart too!!!

My fellow team mates have posted cards using furry friends too and you are invited to take a peek!

Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil

Welcome to midnight in the garden of good and evil!  My good friend Pat Frank is on a romantic holiday with her husband Gil in Savannah, Georgia.   Savannah has such beautiful, old cemeteries!  Lots of old oak trees with silver gray  Spanish moss hanging down creating a right spooky atmosphere.  But the crown jewel is the Mercer house and the murder that took place in this grand old southern mansion.  You think I'm kidding?  Heck no!  All you have to do is read MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF GOOD AND EVIL by John Berendt and you'll know that this is a true story of intrigue!  Mama gets all wrapped up in the cemeteries and walking by the Mercer house while casually trying to peek in the windows.  Why she gets so excited she has to go eat a big plate of shrimp and grits. And I imagine that is what Pat is doing too!

Speaking of intrigue, Mama  has always had cats running around.  She said they kept the mouse population down.  I don't think she addressed the cat population!!    So Mama,  this card is for  you and I am calling it "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil".

At the heart of the matter. . . .

Surprise

Spring is almost here and Mama is almost beside herself with joy!  All the daffodils Mama planted over the years are coming up and soon will bloom.  The birds are singing like crazy and we think we heard some new birds chirping away. Soon there will be new life all around!!

Speaking of new life, Mama has always preached to us bout being good and we  all  KNEW what that word  meant!  Mama has only one question . . . . . .

As you and I both know, the answer can only be found in the card - enjoy.

??????????????

I have entered my card in the following challenges:

Color Create Challenge- The fruit I have chosen are strawberries, bananas and kiwi
Magnolia-licious Challenge Blog - Pink, brown or baby themed
Fairy Knoll - A little Green

I do appreciate y'all stopping by Mama's for a visit -- all comments are gratefully accepted!
